With 1.19 Billion Facebook users, 82 million of them are fake. Catfishing is the use of a false identity online and would generally end up in an awkward situation. This video was inspired by a horror movie theme, and derived from movies such as Halloween, Scream and Fatal Attraction. The general message of this video is to highlight the uncertainty of who you may be speaking to through social media and how it could effect you in some cases. Communication through technology is so uncertain especially when meeting online. The ending of the film was an exaggeration of a situation that could potentially occur. This film gave an awareness of the issue being addressed but was a more comedic horror based video, as shown through the poor costume design.
I faced several complications throughout the film process, particularly on what software to use to create the video. The screen cast software that I was going to use for the Facebook conversation also was malfunctioning and only saved in SWF files, which are basically non-existent, so that explains the poor quality on filming the conversation. I used a range of filming tools, from iPhone's to digital cameras to get a feel of which quality would be the most beneficial. I also explored the different audio that I would used and came to the conclusion that a no voice audio but only various music types would give the appropriate feel to this film.
